The Annals of „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, Faculty of Sciences – also comprising the section of Natural Sciences - started to issue in 1901 with the name of Annales Scientifiques de l’Université de Jassy at the Mihaileana University. Between the two world wars there were recorded a few interruptions, but publication was realized until 1948. Since 1948 it continued under the new name of the university („Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi). In 1955, significant changes regarding the structure of the Scientific Annals came out. The papers of geology, geography and biology were separated according to the new sections of the university.  The papers for the section of Natural Sciences were separated in The Annals of „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi (New series). Section II (Natural Sciences). Here were framed all the works of biology (botany, zoology, plant and animal physiology etc.). Since 1990, after separation of the Section of Biology belonging to the Faculty of Biology-Geography-Geology, the Scientific Annals were issued separately according to the new sections. The new Faculty of Biology started to publish two different volumes: one for Animal Biology and the second for Vegetal Biology.
