REVIEW PROCESS

Types of contributions: The Journal Analele Ştiinţifice ale Universităţii „Al. I. Cuza” din Iaşi (serie nouă), Secţiunea II a. Biologie vegetală, publish original articles from various domains of botanical sciences, along with book reviews and anniversary announcements. Both, original research papers and reviews are welcomed. Authors of Review papers should consult with the editor before submission. Original research papers are welcomed both as full-length papers or short notes (generally less than two-three manuscript pages). The editors reserve the right to move manuscripts from one to other category.
Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture or academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors, and that, if accepted, will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of the publisher.

Step 1
All papers should be submitted electronically only, according to Authors Guidelines, via e-mail, as attachments to the following address: editorasbv@gmail.com The article sent for publication will contain the name/s of author/s, institutional affiliation and correspondence address, only on the first page of the manuscript. The drafting rules can be found on „Author Guidelines” section of the website.

Step 2
The editors will select articles which comply with the scientific profile of the journal and respect the drafting rules. The articles which fail to meet the submission requirements will not be reviewed and will be rejected. A paper can be rejected without review if it is: clearly out of scope for the journal; based on insufficient experimental/field data;  inadequate bibliography, and/or poorly written (with a large number of grammatical errors, illegible figures, etc.). In case of resubmission of a previously rejected manuscript, the submission must include a cover letter summarizing substantial changes made to address reviewer comments.

Step 3
The Editorial Board will appoint two referees for specialty review.

Step 4
Two referees, experts in the field, will make a peer-review of the article.

Step 5
Based on the reviews of the manuscript, the Editorial Board determines if a manuscript can be published or not, and under what circumstances. The Editorial Board may decide:
- To reject the paper. Authors are not encouraged to resubmit papers that are considered irredeemable.
- To accept the paper with no changes.
- To accept the paper with minor, but required changes. In this case, the author is required to send the revised version of the manuscript within one week. If the revision cannot be made within this period, the author has to contact the Production Editor and agree upon an amended resubmission date.
- To provisionally accept the paper with major, required revisions. In this case, a second full review cycle will be required. This process will be done by the initial and/or additional reviewers. The author is required to send the revised version of the manuscript within four weeks. If the revision cannot be made within this period, the author has to contact the Production Editor and agree upon an amended resubmission date.
- To reject the paper, but encourage major revision and resubmission.

Step 6
Authors will be notified when a manuscript has been accepted for publication. Each author will receive an evaluation feedback sheet of the submitted article.
