PHYSIOLOGICAL MODIFICATIONS IN HERBACEOUS SPECIES UNDER ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION INFLUENCE

Abstract: This paper present the results of a research regarding the influence of atmospheric polution, produced by Săvineşti-Roznov chemical platform (Neamţ District), upon grassland species metabolism. The technological processes of synthetic threads and fibres and nitrogenous fertilizers plants from Săvineşti-Roznov chemical platform result in atmospheric emission of SO2, NO, H2SO4, Cl, acrylonitrile and chlorine-cyan which alter the main physiological processes: water balance, photosynthesis, mineral nutrition. In less polluted – resistant species, the chemical analyses revealed the following observations: water contents decrease with about 3-21 wt%, a and b chlorophyll contents decrease with about 50-70 wt%, and nitrogen, phosphorus and calcium content are low.
